Purveyors of the Finest Transportation Models to Discriminating Collectors

March 1, 2001

Fine Art Models has delivered the Big Boys. They are spectacular! ... and sold out. Next loco on the agenda: Norfolk and Western's legendary Class A 2-6-6-4. It is due by the end of 2001.

Horst Schoenlau, has delivered the BR 57 0-8-0 locomotive and it is, as usual, a wonderful example of his skill and craftsmanship. He has the BR 01 10  Pacific in planning followed by a series of BR 50 decapod locomotives.

Kiss has just announced that the BR 10 Pacifics are in and shipping. This is Herr Kiss's first steam outline model and I am sure that it will continue the tradition of quality and value long established by his electric outline models. The BR 41 Mikado with the oil tender is next. I have been trying to convince him to make the BR 42 decapod. What do you think????

Lemaco has begun to ship the SBB Ae 4/7 electrics. The Gallery models are on the airplane as this update is published. This classic loco had been neglected by the high quality builders until now.

Dingler has delivered the BR 78 models and they are smooth running and well detailed. I understand that the BR 10 is next. Manufacturers try to keep their new releases a secret, and understandably so, but it is a shame that Dingler and Kiss inadvertently decided to make the same model. Both will be fine models so how is the collector to choose? The Gallery has solved this problem by buying BR 10 001 from Kiss and BR 10 002 from Dingler. I hope that this confusion between manufacturers is infrequent.

Bockholt's BR 52 series has been released and they are marvelous. Smooth as silk (Has Bockholt ever made a less than wonderful runner? I doubt it.) and well detailed in the Bockholt style. The Bockholt family keeps tradition and quality alive with this latest effort!!!! Next...the E44 German electric.

We revised the home page to further emphasize the importance of Gauge One to the Gallery's mission and make access to the "Gauge One Collector Newsletter" easier.

Lots of action at Row & Company. The ABA set of Alco PA/PB's are now being delivered.   I have seen a set of UP units and they are great. These are without question the best Gauge One US type diesels ever made.  Their next project is a Santa Fe 2900 class 4 8 4 northern.  This will be the first Santa Fe steam model in Gauge One.   I have seen this model in other scales and it is a huge, beautiful locomotive.   Personally, I would like to see an ATSF Hudson and Texas type follow this one.

Jens Bockholt informs me that the firm has sold out of the BR 19 locos.  Their next project will be the DR BR 132 diesel and then the splendid BR 18 (Wurttemb. C) pacific express locomotive. You can find photos in the Bockholt catalog at this site.

Kiss will have a preproduction model of the E10/E40 series on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in February, 1999. His E94 and TEE locos should be close to delivery, too.

The productive firm of Dingler has announced that the BR 64 2 6 2 tank loco is about ready to ship. If it is like the BR 86 2 8 2 tank loco it will not last long. The BR 86 was beautifully detailed and run wonderfully.  We will add the BR 64 brochure to their catalog soon.

Neil Rose and his friends at Fine Scale Locomotive Company are busy lads, indeed.   Production of the 100 Duke of Gloucester pieces is winding down and the deliveries of the Britannia class pacifics have begun.  They are available in several names and coaches are also made so you can have a complete train!  Neal has another project almost ready to go, too.  That is the BR class 9F 2 10 0 like the Evening Star. The British Gauge One collector has been ignored for years, but no more! See the FSLC catalog on this site.

We added some links such as Dingler and Hubner. Bockholt is currently delivering their BR 18. Lemaco is now delivering the DR 243 electric series. Fine Art Models has delivered the New York Central Hudson and is currently shipping the streamlined version. Check out the Hubner German passenger cars here or at their website! We are now in the "Golden Age" of Gauge One collecting.

July 26, 1998

This site was completely revised. There is now more of an emphasis on Gauge 1 (1/32) locomotives and other products. We are trying to add as many catalogs as possible so everyone will be able to realize how large Gauge 1 is (excuse the pun!)

Dingler's BR 86 arrived and the run was quickly sold out.

The little BR 98 0-4-0 from Besig is beautiful with a reasonable price (call for details), but is going quickly. This is a perfect first model for the new collector.

Fine Scale Models of Switzerland is making the "hinged" two prototypes of the Re 6/6 and it is being sold exclusively through the Gallery! The first run of five have been sold and the next run of eight are expected soon. A maximum of 40 models will be made, probably much less.

Mr. Kiss announced that his firm will make the E94 next and then the E10/40 series. This is the most prolific type of DB electric and only 60 will be made!

Fine Scale Locomotive Company of the UK is delivering the first of the Britannia pacific series. Anglophiles abound the world take notice! This is a superb model and it is made in Britain by Brits!

I have just returned from the Sinsheim show in Germany and have lots of other news. I will try to write Vol 5 of the "Gauge One Collector" soon. Stay tuned to this site!

In addition, after the first of January, 1998, the Gallery will be open by appointment only. This is not a matter that should concern you! Just call (305 863 3220), fax (305 863 3213), write (address below), or e-mail us. Our hours this way will be very flexible. Short notice is fine. We love to show our models to interested people! Please contact us and visit.
